NHC achieved several notable feats in 2007. Among these include reduced radiation for patients undergoing Multi-Slice Computed Tomography (MSCT) – this new prospective scanning software uses a specialised computer algorithm that only turns on the x-ray tube when the heart is at rest. The centre's report card on clinical outcomes have shown to be comparable to developed countries, according to MOH Info Paper on Heart Surgeries at Public Hospitals 2001 - 2005. In addition, NHC introduced the Live 3D Transoesophageal Echocardiography which delivers exceptional image quality and accurately depicts the cardiac structure, pathology and function, enabling on-the-spot evaluation.
