OBJECTIVES To provide the subspecialty nuclear cardiology fellow with the theoretical and practical aspects of nuclear cardiology, including SPECT sestamibi scintigraphy, MUGA scan tests and exercise stress test interpretation.
DURATION 6 - 12 months
CONTENT
- Understand the theoretical aspects of nuclear cardiology.
- Appreciate radiation physics and radiation safety.
- Learn the practical aspects of the various techniques, including sestamibi and Thallium scintigraphy, and multigated blood pool scans.
- Learn the various stress protocols involved including exercise stress, and pharmacological stress techniques utilising IV dipyridamole and dobutamine.
- Master the interpretations of the various imaging results.
- Be responsible for data entry and assist in patient care.
- Participate in research projects.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
- MMed, MRCP or its equivalent.
- Completed 2 years of general training in Cardiology
